Revenue-sharing agreements (RSAs) require trust, transparency, and reliable information to be effective.
With some counterparties, there is enough trust to operate under the notion that revenues would be recorded accurately and payments would be administered accordingly.
However, depending on your counter-parties and volume of transactions linked to an RSA, errors can emerge (either maliciously or otherwise). Many people will manage RSAs manually or offline because the operational/administrative costs can be less than developing a fully automated solution. If a company or person decided they wanted to automate this process, the costs could be quite high.
